Ok, ok, we're supposed to be over the election by now. And I am. Now I'm on to bigger and more depressing issues, like the one that almost had me crying on the way home from work (I'm a bit disturbed at the number of times NPR has made me tear up).
It's this whole Frontline controversy going on, and how the PBS stations are most likely going to err on the side of caution by showing the edited, non-swearing version of the show instead of the real version. Then again, they might be able to get away with showing the original because the FCC never fined ABC for showing 'Saving Private Ryan' unedited.
Before I go into a loud tirade on why swearing in 'Saving Private Ryan' is ok whereas actual soilders swearing might not be ok...
WHY IS OK TO SHOW AMERICAN SOILDERS BEING ATTACKED BY ROADSIDE BOMBS BUT NOT OK TO HEAR THEM CURSE IN RESPONSE??????????????
Violence ok, bad language evil, don't want kids to hear naughty words, ok w/ kids watching kids die, reality TV good, actual reality bad...
Has this country gone COMPLETELY MAD??
Not going to cry in hopelessness...not going to cry.
